Posted on August 18th, 2010

Hi and welcome to Russian4real’s slang lesson!
Here is the video:

The first two words that we will talk about today “Нарисоваться” and “Рисуется”
came from word “рисовать”, which means to “draw”.
Рисоваться [ri-sa-VAT’-sya] – to show off
Example:
Я смотрю, ты любишь рисоваться.
[ya smat-RYOO TEE LYOO-bish ri-sa-VAT’-sya]
Translation:
I can see that you like to show off.

Нарисоваться
[na-ri-sa-VAT’-sya] – to finally show up
Example:
Она, наконец-то, нарисовалась только в 2 часа дня.
[a-NA na-ri-sa-VA-las’ TOL’-ka v DVA cha-SA DNYA]
Translation:
She finally showed up at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

This idiom I’ve known for years and years, it is very popular in Russian, you will probably hear it a lot, when listening to the Russian speakers talking.

Вешать лапшу на уши [VYE-shat’ lap-SHOO NA oo-shi] – to hang noodles on someone’s ears
Example:
Он постоянно вешает мне лапшу на уши.
[ON pas-ta-YAN-na VYE-sha-yet LAP-shoo NA oo-shi]
Translation:
He is always lying to me.

Тазик [TA-zik] old car
Example:
Я люблю свой тазик, и не хочу его продавать.
[YA lyoob-LYOO SVOY TA-zik, i ni HA-CHOO ye-VO pro-da-VAT’]
Translation:
I love my old care and don’t want to sell it.

Разборка [raz-BOR-ka] fight, quarrel, argument
Example:
Пожалуйста, не устраивай мне разборки.
[pa-ZHA-looy-sta ni oos-TRA-ivay MNYE raz-BOR-ki]
Translation:
Please, don’t start a fight.

You can also watch a video lesson and to listen to Russian pronunciation and repeat after me:

Have fun learning Russian!
