Can’t wait to impress your significant other with sweet nothings in Russian?
In my previous post you read about how Valentine’s Day is celebrated in Russian culture, in today’s video lesson you will learn a few sweet and romantic Valentine’s Day words and phrases.
Learn how to say “I love you” in Russian:
Любовь (n.) [lyoo-BOF’] love
Example:
Стихи о любви.
Poems about love.
Любить (v.) [LOO-beet’] to love (v.)
Example:
Я тебя люблю!
I love you!
Влюбиться (v.) в (кого-то ) [vlyoo-BEET’- sya] to fall in love
Example:
Я влюбился в Машу.
I fell in love with Masha.
Сердце (n.) [SYER-tse] heart
Example:
Я дарю тебе своё сердце!
I am giving you my heart!
Сердечко (n.) [seer-DYECH-ka] diminutive form of word heart
Example:
Николай нарисовал мне маленькое сердечко.
Nikolay drew a little heart for me.
Купидон (n.) [koo-pee-DON] cupid
Example:
Купидон стреляет стрелы в сердца людей.
Cupid shoots arrows at people’s hearts
Роза (n.) [RO-za] rose
Example:
Роза – мой любимый цветок.
Rose is my favorite flower.
Подарок (n.) [pa-DA-rak] gift
Example:
Открыть подарок.
Open a gift.
Валентинка (n.) [va-lyen-TEEN-ka] Valentine’s Day card
Example:
Подпиши валентинку.
Sign a Valentine’s Day card.
Шарик (n.) [SHA-reek] balloon
Example:
Шарик в форме сердечка.
This balloon is in a heart shape.
Шоколад (n.) [sha-ka-LAT] chocolate
Example:
Я люблю шоколад.
I love chocolate.
Шоколадная конфета [sha-ka-LAD-na-ya kan-FYE-ta] chocolate candy
Example:
Мой парень подарил мне коробку шоколадных конфет.
My boyfriend gave me a box of chocolate candy.
Свидание (n.) [svee-DA-nee-ye] date
Example:
Я иду на свидание на День Святого Валентина.
I am going on a date on Valentine’s Day.
